I have been involved in helping pioneer mental health promotion and public mental health from their infancy in the 1990s up to the present day.

Previous employment:

mentality 2000 - 2006
A founder member of mentality, the first national charity dedicated solely to promoting mental health. Working with the public and private sector, user and survivor groups and voluntary agencies to promote the mental health of individuals, families, organisations and communities.

mentality was affiliated to the Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health.

  • worked with 160 partners and clients
  • delivered over 575 contracts
  • trained over 500 mental health promoters
  • supported over 300 network members
  • distributed over 40,000 publications and mental health promotion materials
  • helped with over 12,000 general enquiries
  • raised £1.5 million

 

Health Education Authority 1984 - 2000
  • Programme Manager for Health in Old Age, Women's Health.
  • Managed the World Mental Health Day campaign across England. World Mental Health Day is recognised internationally and was first observed in 1992. The day is commemorated each year on 10th October.
